Practice what you preach. AN ONLINE FACADE

Does everyone practice an actual, authentic life... what they happen to preach on Social Media? On Instagram stories?

I feel it's crucial to understand this gap. It's arduous to differentiate between the reality and the trail of lies served online.

Social Media is evidently the most powerful tool of this century. The millennials and Gen z tiptoe from one app to another mindlessly. Oh, and did I mention the one thing we love doing largely?

*Drumrolls*

To “avoid the silence”. We become so uncomfortable with silence that we try to keep ourselves as busy as we can. To put so much effort into escaping from any internal thoughts or dialogue, we've forgotten to communicate with ourselves effectively. We've forgotten to check-in with ourselves. Everyone is busy catching up with what others are doing online.

While we long in search to find authenticity online/ digitally, it's crucial from our end to practice what we preach. While uploading a story to voice out a factually based opinion. Research and educate yourself on different issues going on before posting something ill-informed. On a broader scale, I’m trying to put forth the idea that, What your story says in 15 sec should be aligned to what you practice offline and who you are when no one is watching.

Staying true to yourself should be your mantra. Away from all the noise. Shut it down. Shut it down as often as you can. Take a deep breath. Embrace the silence. Constantly check-in with yourself and form positive self-talk. We as a generation collectively hold a responsibility to come out as sane individuals who are self-aware in a world full of distractions socially and digitally.
